Our vision
The Department of Environment (DE) is Australia’s environmental protection agency. Our vision is to:
- Protect Australia’s environment
- Enforce environmental legislation
- Lead environmental research
- Provide environmental services
What we do
The DE protects the Australian environment, covering both land (vegetation and animals) and water (rivers, waterways and our marine environment). We also enforce Australia’s Environmental Protection Act 2001 (the EP Act).
